New to this?
It looks simple: a bike frame that rides on skis instead of wheels. No pedals pushing you, no wheels to wash out — gravity does the pulling, you carve to control your speed, and you ride the lift back up to do it again. Most people are carving within an hour.
Building one that survives how this new breed actually rides is the hard part. Backflips, drops, park laps — that punishment destroys frames that were never engineered for it. That’s the whole reason Ski MX exists: heavy-duty carbon, obsessed over from inside the sport. If it were as easy as bolting skis onto a mountain bike, nobody would have to build a better one.

Who’s behind this
Daniel Behar lives where the rest of us vacation — up in the Tahoe high country, chasing anything that spikes the adrenaline and breaking whatever can’t keep up.
In September 2023 it nearly cost him everything: a motorcycle race, a crash he doesn’t sugarcoat, the better part of a week in a coma. Most people take that as the sign to slow down. Daniel took it as a reason to find a new way to send it.
By January 2024 he’d found it. The day he watched somebody truly rip on a snowbike, that was it — hooked for life. He threw himself all the way in, ran a rental business getting bikes underneath anyone who’d try one, and joined the race crew of the American Skibike Association.
Then the frames started snapping. Not because he rode them wrong — because he rode them right. Two, three bikes a season, dead under a rider who refuses to hold back. So he teamed up with an engineer — carbon layups, 3D-printed prototypes — to build frames that could eat everything he throws at them.
